What Is Upper Blepharoplasty (Upper Eyelid Surgery)?

The upper portion of the eyelid in the illustration is the 'upper eyelid (상안검).'
Across the human body, this area has relatively thin skin and a minimal subcutaneous fat layer, yet its muscles are constantly in use during blinking.
Consequently, it is one of the earliest areas to display signs of aging. Beyond the aesthetic concerns of simple aging,
sagging eyelid tissue can obstruct the visual field, cause skin irritation and maceration in the eye folds, and lead to eyelashes poking the eyeball.
For these reasons, the double eyelid surgery favored most by middle-aged individuals is upper blepharoplasty.
Through upper blepharoplasty, an incision is made along the natural eyelid crease and folds, addressing sagging upper eyelid tissue and excess fat.
By removing appropriate amounts of fat, muscle, and skin, and then suturing the incision, the upper eyelid is lifted toward the forehead region.
